Make something of your own.
Two hands-on workshop series: open-ended art and craft for children, and pastel Nagomi art for children and adults.
Workshops we host
Grouped by age:3 to 67 to 12
Guided art and craft where children try out materials, make their own choices and finish with work that is theirs.
What happens in a workshop
A craft project and a guided pastel picture look nothing alike, and in both the child does the work.
Depending on the workshop, a session may include:
- 1A short introduction or demonstration
- 2Open-ended making or guided art practice
- 3Time to choose, experiment, practise or refine
- 4Conversation, so children can say what they notice and think
- 5A moment at the end to look back and ask what comes next
How much guidance we give depends on the workshop. In every case, the child does the making.
A way in for every child
Children arrive at different ages, with different experience and confidence. We adjust the pace, the explanation and the difficulty so each child has a real way to take part.
For one child that means watching the demonstration twice before trying. For another it means choosing their own materials or polishing a technique. Help is there when they want it, and there is no one right way through.
Nobody needs to know anything before they start.
A workshop is somewhere to try, practise and get better.
